Ingredients
  • 97.9 g beef brisket flat
  • 98.8 g tomato basil pasta sauce
  • 65 g Tuscan kale
  • 0.3333 tsp olive oil
  • 63.6 g black beans
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 0.25 tsp salt
Method
  1. 01In a small heavy-bottomed pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add beef brisket and sear until browned on all sides.
  2. 02Add the tomato basil pasta sauce and a splash of water. Reduce heat to low, cover, and braise for 45 minutes until the beef reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C), becomes fork-tender, and pulls apart easily.
  3. 03In a separate small pot, combine the black beans, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and water. Simmer until the beans are tender and creamy, about 20 minutes, then drain excess liquid.
  4. 04Add the chopped Tuscan kale to the pot with the braising beef during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Stir until the leaves are bright green and tender but still retain a bit of bite.
  5. 05Spoon the warm, tomato-braised brisket and kale mixture over the prepared black beans in a breakfast bowl.
  6. 06Garnish with remaining sea salt if desired and serve immediately while piping hot.
