Ingredients
- 56 g ground beef
- 44.8 g yam
- 142.7 g scallions
- 1 tsp five spice powder
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- 01In a mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, finely grated raw yam, three-quarters of the minced scallions, salt, and Chinese five-spice powder. Knead the mixture thoroughly until it becomes sticky and well-combined.
- 02Shape the beef mixture into four small, uniform rounds (about 2 inches in diameter).
- 03Line a steamer basket with parchment paper or napa cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Place the meat rounds into the steamer.
- 04Set steamer over boiling water, cover tightly, and steam for 12 to 14 minutes until the dumplings are firm, the yam is tender, and the internal temperature of the beef reaches 160°F (71°C).
- 05Carefully remove the lid and let rest for 1 minute. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with the remaining reserved sliced scallions.
